Times and I are having an argument over which program is better, North Carolina or Kansas. I say it’s UNC, he likes KU. We argue about the coaches, the history, the wins, the losses, the future, the present and the past. Basically, neither one of us backs down, but constantly, we take cheap shots at each other. Here are some stats between the 2 powerhouses. You guys can decide which program is better.

Roy Williams did a remarkable job at KU, he’s also doing a fantastic job at UNC. According to Rivals.com, he’s killing the recruiting circuit and has the Tar Heels set for the next few years:

2008
Ed Davis (5 Star PF)
Tyler Zeller (5 Star C)
Larry Drew (4 Star PG)

2009
John Henson (5 Star PF)
Dexter Strickland (5 Star PG)
David Wear (5 Star PF)
Travis Wear (5 Star PF)

2010
Kendall Marshall (5 Star PG)
Reggie Bullock (Unranked. 2010 Class only has top 10).

Bill Self is doing a tremendous job as well. He has yet to reach the Final 4, but spending a combined 8 of his 15 years at Oral Roberts and Tulsa, the Final 4 was kind of out of the question. He did make the Elite 8 in 2000 at Tulsa, again in 2001 at Illinois, and 2 more times with the Jayhawks, in 2004 and 2007.

This year looks very promising that Self will make his 1st trip to the Final 4. Once there, the possibility of meeting Williams in a KU-UNC matchup is very real. The outcome of that game could sway the balance of who Life and Times think is the better program. Stay tuned!
