You know what’s great about this Final Four? Even better than any Final Four in recent memory? Well, lots of things, but I’m going to start with the general assumption that this Final Four has so much parity. When asked about the best backcourt, anyone can argue for each of the four teams and be right. Frontcourt? Any of them and yes, you’d be correct, too. Bench? Well, all four teams are very talented in that area, maybe some more than others. Coaching? Yep, each coach has a right to be considered the best at certain areas and whatnot. Roy Williams may have the most experience at this stage, but he does have his downfalls. John Calipari has been around the block a few times, and in the NBA, he could lay claim to the best of the bunch. Bill Self has been all quality in the last decade or so, and Ben Howland has been to 3 straight Final Fours. Maybe he’s the one you want heading up your team. One thing is for sure, there are 300 and some-odd programs in America that would switch places with the four programs currently at the mountaintop this weekend and those 300+ teams would, no doubt, trade places with these four for an eternity.

I have seen, read, and heard so many different prediction throughout the week about what team will do what this weekend, but the truth is, nobody knows for sure how these teams will fare against each other. Luckily, there have been no regular season matchups between any of them, so we really don’t know how each of them will react when they take the floor against one another. I’ve got to say that I’ve heard and read about each team, equally. Some analyst believes Memphis will win, another Kansas, another North Carolina and another UCLA. I’ve heard and read them over and over again. It’s going to be a great weekend and if there were any arguments against the captivation of the tournament until now, that should all change in another day.

When the lights come on, we’ll get to watch big-time athletes, big-time coaches, and big-time programs look each other eye to eye. We’ll see if an uber-talented freshman can carry his team against an upperclass-laden backcourt before he heads off to get paid. We’ll see the opposite end of the same court pit another uber-talented freshman match braun against a freakishly athletic senior. Will the fresh faces wilt under the pressure, or continue to dominate under the glare of millions of curious spectators on the biggest stage? Will the rock-solid upperclass wingmen be the key to carrying either team to the promise land, or will it be a little used reserve like Willie Kemp or James Keefe?

Will we see a balanced team win out over the hyped All American big man, or will be the little, muscular guards who stake their claim of Final Four M.O.P? Will the pressures of endless, repetitive questions bring a coach to tears or make him thrive in his new program?

So many questions yet to be answered, yet this weekend, answers we will receive. One thing is for sure, this will be a much celebrated weekend of the nation’s crown jewel of a sport, and I for one, cannot wait! We will all “Remember The Alamo”.
